Center Stage Dance World
Student Letter 2016-2017
Center Stage Dance World wants to welcome you to our studio! We’re happy you’re dancing with us! Our mission is to provide a quality, affordable, recreational dance experience to our students. We provide instruction in Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Technique and Hip Hop. Dancers ages 3 to senior citizens are welcome!
In order to ensure dancers receive the most out of their experience, we ask them to be ready to dance promptly at the beginning of class. We do not have class uniforms and just ask dancers to wear clothes that are easy in which to move. We do not allow jeans, jean shorts or jean skirts.
We welcome observers in our classes at any time, but due to limited space, only 2 observers per dancer will be permitted to enter the studio space. Crying or disruptive children must wait in our waiting area. As there are no street shoes allowed on the dance floor, only students and teachers will be permitted on the dance floor during classes. Please do not enter the studio until your class time.
Class attendance is VITAL as it ensures our performances are successful and our dancers receive the highest level of dance education possible. However, we understand that under some circumstances dancers may not be able to attend a class. We ask you please let your instructor know if you will miss a class as this may change the instructor’s lesson plans for that day. Most classes offer a make-up class time so dancers may catch up on what they missed. Ask your instructor for your make up time.
Tuition and Fees
Monthly tuition is due at the first class each month. For the 2015-2016 season, we will charge $29 for 30 minute classes, $33 for 45 minute classes, $36 for 60 minute classes and $48 for 90 minute classes. If a dancer misses a class, they still must pay the full month's tuition. Dancers falling more than two months behind on tuition will not be allowed to dance in any performances until the bill is paid in full. If you are enrolled in classes with multiple instructors, we ask you pay each instructor separately. Thank you for your understanding as this will help limit confusion between instructors.
We do not charge enrollment or registration fees. However, to ensure our yearly recital may remain free to the public, we do charge one $65 recital fee per family (same household) due by October 31, 2015. Failure to pay the recital fee by this date will result in a $10 late fee. If the recital fee hasn’t been paid in full by the time we order costumes, the dancer(s) will not be permitted to order costumes/perform in recital. This fee is not refundable for any reason.
Lastly, dancers must purchase costumes and shoes/tights for each dance they will perform in recital. Costume fees vary per costume. For younger dancers our costume fee is USUALLY between $50 and $65 per costume and between $50 and $75 per costume for older dancers. Costumes must be paid for at the time they are ordered. Tap, jazz, lyrical and ballet shoes/tights may be purchased through the studio. Styles depend on instructor preferences. Hip Hop dancers are required to purchase a pair of performance tennis shoes in addition to their costume. These will be ordered through the studio.
Unless otherwise specified, all checks may be made payable to Center Stage Dance World.
Class Schedule and Cancellations
We will have regularly scheduled class every week unless otherwise specified. Cancellations due to inclement weather may be found on local news stations (though there is sometimes a delay before our cancellation appears on the list), on the Official Center Stage Dance World Facebook page, and on our website at www.centerstagedanceworld.org. If you are ever unsure, you are also welcome to contact your instructor.
In the Spring, we hire Don Brent, a professional photographer here in Topeka, to take photographs of each class in their costumes. Each dancer also has the opportunity to get individual photos/photos with siblings or friends taken, if desired. Order forms and price lists will be available prior to your photo date. Individual photos will be available for pick up at dress rehearsal. Group photos will be available for order at dress rehearsal, and may be picked up the following Fall at the studio, or you may have them mailed to your home.
We have one large recital in the summer. Again, this event is free to the public so please invite all your friends and family. The 2016 recital will be Tuesday, June 13th at 7 pm in the Georgia Neese Gray Performance Hall at the Topeka Performing Arts Center. This event usually lasts 2.5 or 3 hours.
Monday, June 12th is our REQUIRED final dress rehearsal and will begin for all dancers at 5 pm at TPAC. Dress rehearsal usually lasts about twice as long as our actual recital, however dancers are free to leave once their final dance has been rehearsed.
We will hold blocking rehearsals for SOME dances. These will be scheduled in the afternoon and evening of Sunday, June 11th and are also REQUIRED. Please keep these three dates open as they are extremely important rehearsals. We take great pride in our recital each year and we ask for your help in making sure it is a success! Please be sure to make every effort to attend class every week and attend all rehearsals.
Though we DO NOT allow flash photography or videography at our recital, we do allow flash photography and videography at our dress rehearsal. We only ask that you do so from you seat and do not approach the front of the stage as a courtesy to those around you. As per TPAC’s request, OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK MAY ONLY BE CONSUMED IN DESIGNATED AREAS. No food may be brought into the performance hall. A fine will be implemented by the TPAC staff each time you are seen with food or drink in undesignated areas.
Now, Let’s Dance!
We are so excited to begin our 2015-2016 season! Thank you for being a part of our 24th year of dance. If you ever have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or you may contact your instructors directly. We look forward to working with you dancers!
Thank you for dancing with us!
